What makes our handmade soap different from others?
Melt and pour soap is a great option for those who prefer to avoid using harsh chemicals. Many melt and pour soap bases are made from natural ingredients and are free from additives like sulfates or parabens. This makes it a gentle and skin-friendly option for those with sensitive skin.
The main ingredients in a melt and pour soap base typically include glycerin, water, sodium stearate (a sodium salt derived from stearic acid), propylene glycol (a humectant), sorbitol (a sugar alcohol), sodium laureth sulfate (a surfactant), sodium laurate (a surfactant), sodium myristate (a surfactant), sodium cocoyl isethionate (a surfactant), titanium dioxide (a whitening agent), and various other additives such as fragrance oils, colorants, and preservatives. It’s important to note that the specific ingredients may vary depending on the brand and type of melt and pour soap base being used.
Unlike cold processed soap, there is no lye in melt and pour soap base. Lye, or sodium hydroxide, is traditionally used in the process of making soap from scratch, also known as cold process soap making. Melt and pour soap bases are pre-made and typically do not require the addition of lye. They are formulated to be melted, customized with additives, and then solidify into a finished soap product without the need for lye or the curing time associated with cold process soap making.
